The Scanning Pens story
It all began with two friends who shared a passion for assistive technology—Jack Churchill (OBE) and Toby Sutton (OBE).
Jack, who is dyslexic and open about his journey, has long understood the challenges faced by the neurodivergent community. His personal experiences inspired the creation of Scanning Pens and shaped our mission: to make reading accessible for everyone, no matter where they are in the world.
That’s why the tools we support follow a simple formula: scan, listen, understand. Since introducing the award-winning C-Pen, we’ve been working tirelessly to transform literacy outcomes across the globe.

Meet Toby and Jack
From meeting as students at Oxford Brookes University to winning major national awards for excellence in EdTech and global business, Toby and Jack have dedicated their journey to helping neurodivergent people of all ages build reading confidence. They were awarded OBEs for their outstanding services to international trade and to the dyslexia and SEND communities—a testament to their lasting impact.
