The Scanning Pens story
The story of Scanning Pens started with two friends who shared a passion for assistive technology — Jack Churchill (OBE) and Toby Sutton (OBE).
Jack is dyslexic and open about his dyslexia journey, and the challenges and needs of the neurodivergent community. His own experiences inspired Scanning Pens to forge a new path in the assistive tech world, and we decided it was our job to ensure that when it came to reading, everybody should have access, wherever they are.
That’s why the reading tools we recommend are as simple as scan, listen and understand. Following the addition of the award-winning C-Pen support for reading, we’ve been busy transforming literacy all over the world.

Meet Toby and Jack
From when they met as students at Oxford Brookes to winning huge national awards for excellence in EdTech and global business, Toby and Jack have helped neurodivergent people of all ages discover their reading confidence. They’ve also recently received OBEs services to international trade, and to the dyslexia and SEND community!
