We know language classes provide a unique set of challenges for educators that compound when you have learners in your class who have different levels of language acquisition. It’s a constant landscape of uncertainty: is your teaching accessible enough? Are students feeling confident enough to ask for help, or are you missing signs that they’re disengaging or falling behind? And are the language skills being demonstrated enough for the individual?
It’s normal to be worried about every level of student. They can feel extremely daunted: being in a classroom full of people who are excelling in their lesson faster than you do can easily lead to a loss of confidence and feelings of anxiety. And if that happens, learners can withdraw – or distract and act out – making skill gaps harder and harder for educators to spot.
But that’s where C-Pen Lingo 3 comes in!
C-Pen Lingo 3 is a reading pen specifically designed to help with new language acquisition. Featuring state-of-the-art translation software and a user interface that’s simpler to navigate than a smartphone, reading and translating becomes as simple as scan, listen, and understand– simply move the tip of the pen across the text on the page to get started!

No teacher can be everywhere at once in a language class...
Compared to one or two learners who need specific support in a standard classroom, language lessons compromise your bandwidth as a teacher with an overwhelming student need. Providing language support at the point of need is a demanding part of the role, and it can easily cut into the time you’ve budgeted for whole-class activities, mop-up tasks and fun elements, as well as time for the marking, prep and planning that’s also on your plate.
Add learners in your classroom who have reading differences and balancing your time effectively goes from tricky to impossible. Especially if everybody is at a different level of fluency, providing reading support to those learners becomes a full-time role on top of the teaching you’re already tasked with.
But when the Lingo 3 forms part of your language-learning strategy, it means that part of that support responsibility can be handed over to learners themselves. With the pen in their hand, they can decode, define and translate under their own steam – including support in the English text they may otherwise see as an obstacle – meaning that you can focus on guiding their progress and delivering the lesson to the whole class, whilst they’re building vital independence.
And human support can severely compromise education budgets.
There isn’t a single school out there that isn’t focused on their finances right now. Materials and professional time cost more than ever before, and dedicated language support isn’t getting easier to resource. Salaries are costly, and when there are more than a couple of learners in a cohort that need language support, those figures get very daunting very quickly.
But Lingo 3 can provide that same level of intensive one-on-one support at a fraction of the cost for schools. The same product can be used to support class after class of learners, manage resources, translate into multiple languages, and ongoing financial commitments are vastly reduced from professional salaries.
Language teaching is suffering from a bilingual skills shortage, too.
At the moment, schools throughout the UK, the US and Canada are experiencing a bilingual skills shortage in education, meaning that language teachers are getting harder and harder to come by. This results in less teaching support during language lessons.
But when learners are able to take on part of that language support responsibility themselves and self-support with C-Pen Lingo 3, carry on learning regardless of the state of the support market. Eccellente!
Supporting reading differences in language classes
Languages are one of the most difficult subjects to pick up for many students. It’s hard to immerse yourself in a language when you aren’t receiving regular reinforcement of that language on a day-to-day basis. But if you’ve got neurodiverse differences like dyslexia, or even just don’t naturally find languages easy to pick up, language-learning can represent a lot of anxiety and stress too.
Lingo 3 can give learners a vital vocab boost, supporting them as they go higher grade language learning and giving them the breathing space they need to really develop their language skills and a love for language. It’s not about just handing learners translation tech and hoping that it all goes in: it’s about ensuring that they can understand the work in front of them, and building the confidence to give a skilled answer as they grow into more developed understandings of the language.
But effective language learning support is about more than just reading and writing.
We’ve mentioned the word ‘confidence’ a lot throughout this blog, but it really is the most key part of the process for language learners. Being able to understand the words on the page is vital for language-learning progress, but it’s not just about them being able to pick up a textbook and read any line from the page.
It’s about fostering the self-belief that they can do that, that fluency isn’t a distant, unattainable goal, and that whatever plans they might have for future education or work are fully achievable. That’s where C-Pen Lingo 3 really comes into its own: when learners use it to support their language-learning, they’re doing it by themselves. When the ability to decode isn’t dependent on there being a hand to hold, learners don’t feel dependent, embarrassed or overly observed.
And in doing so, they’re creating a support mechanism that can travel with them all the way through to the workplace, even if that’s a very distant horizon from where they are now.
Give students a firm foundation for language learning with C-Pen Lingo 3!
Lingo 3 is a reading pen designed to support learners in developing a firm foundation in their new language and developing reading fluency.
